The mouse pad is good looking and stylish, thanks to the built-in cold cathode light. The appearance truly is unique; we haven't come across any mouse pad like this before. The response and tracking is improved with the hard mousing surface used. This light is mounted around the perimeter of the mouse pad so you can perfectly see the it from almost any angle. The cathode light uses a USB port to power itself, so there's no need to use up another precious plug socket.
Impressions:
After the mouse pad was hooked up to an open USB port, it was set into position, and we were ready to go. The mouse used in companion with the pad was an older Logitech optical mouse. The hard surface, which the mouse pad is composed of, led to very nice tracking and made it easy to move the mouse around. 258x230x12 mm is the size of the pad, and I felt Vantec could have made it a much larger, more practical size, enabling you to move the mouse around more without needing to lift it off the pad. Mouse pads can come in a wide variety of shapes too, and this mouse pad happens to be in a circular shape, adding to its appearance. An on/off switch is placed at the rear of the mouse pad, which can be useful if you wish to turn the light off at night but still leave your computer running.
Conclusion:
In terms of appearance, this mouse pad is very unique, but we feel that its practicality has suffered very slightly as its size could be improved upon. You may also be surprised at its price; it is only about $15 at PC Toy Land! We recommend this mouse pad to anyone looking for something with a difference.
