Crytek FarCry

 

When a software company promises to make an engine that will blow away Doom3 and have an advanced AI that’s never been seen before, you wouldn’t be the first to say: “YEAH right, have to see it before believing it”. Well, Crytek have claimed this about their new work of art; FarCry. Now let’s see if the cryengine lives up to its promises...

The story goes like this: Jack carver is a young man, who rents out boats for a living. He thought that bringing a curious journalist to an island to take some pictures and then take her back would be easy money.

All he took was his Hawaiian shirt and some sunburn, but if he had known he would be the target of mercenaries practicing shooting bullets, even in the middle of one genetic experiment, he would have considered lying on a sun bench instead of earning some quick money.

The exotic setting is something really new for a first person shooter. When you add all the beauty of this nature, you get a unique experience. When I was crossing all the outdoor locations, I saw things my eyes couldn’t believe. Palm trees waving in the wind, white beaches like you see in the Dominican Republic, and the sea nicely flowing out over the beach. The water in this game is amazing; it makes waves and reflects all environments in a way that we have only ever seen in pre-rendered adventure games. Once I dived under the surface, there was exotic fish swimming all around the corals....
