eXtremeReviews.net :: FX Game Pad

Flexiglow FX Game Pad

The Flexiglow FX Game Pad is visually stunning due to its seven different colors, but it’s not just appearance which makes this pad different, it is also an approved mousing surface by gaming enthusiasts.

Features:

∙ Extra long USB Cable
∙ Low power consumption
∙ Smooth wrist action on non-wearing easy glide surface
∙ 7 custom color options with dazzling super bright LED’s
∙ Compatible with ball and optical mice
∙ Terrific nighttime illumination

This pad is powered directly via USB, so no other power source or inverter will be needed, also the USB cable included is quite long (5-1/2 feet) so it should reach from your mousing location to your PC without any troubles. Smooth wrist action on a non-wearing, easy glide surface is key to an effective gaming mouse pad. The mouse pad includes the colors green, red, blue, yellow, purple, aqua, and mixed blue. The eighth setting on the pad is for an automatic cycle through all seven colors, with the colors changing roughly every second. The lights around the circumference of the mouse pad make it great for nighttime illumination and LAN parties.

Impressions:

Included with the package is the mouse pad, two extra feet, and an information sheet (details on maintenance, and how to connect the mouse pad to your PC). After the mouse pad had been plugged into an open USB port, it immediately went into its cycle of all eight colors, which was very nice, and in fact, it was much brighter than the Spectrum mouse pad that we recently reviewed. In addition, I was impressed with the mousing surface; it’s composed of a hard material that was very easy to use my mouse with (Microsoft Intellimouse 3.0a). In the upper-middle portion of the mouse pad, is a small switch where you can change the color that you would like the pad to display. After initially operating my mouse on the mouse pad, I did bump into the switch a few times, but after a while I got used to its location. The pad is approximately 11” wide and 8” in height, which is a decent size for a mouse pad but I personally wouldn’t mind it gaining a few more inches.

As I rested my wrist on the rear of the mouse pad, the front portion would lift into the air slightly; this problem was easily fixed by using the two spare feet provided. Overall, this mouse pad has a superb tracking surface which is great for gaming, the lights are very bright, and it has an attractive assortment of colors.

Conclusion:

Before receiving it, I was personally a bit skeptical about the mouse pad after looking at the not-so-good Vantec Spectrum. However, my views soon changed once I began to use the mouse pad. The lights are the most unique feature with the pad, and rightly so, but the mousing surface is also very suitable for optical and ball mice alike, providing superb tracking and minimal friction. I recommend this product to those of you interested in having a great looking and high quality mousing surface. It is especially suited for LAN parties.

Pros:

∙ Seven colors
∙ Superb mousing surface
∙ USB powered
∙ Decent size
∙ Long USB Cable

Cons:

∙ Could be considered a tad expensive (~ $23.95)
∙ Wouldn’t hurt if the mouse pad gained a few inches in size
