Prolink PixelView GeForce FX 5900XT Golden Limited

The PixelView GeForce FX 5900XT Golden Limited, which we will be taking a look at today, claims to be both high performing and attractive, it also boasts an LCD screen and a near-silent GPU fan. So lets see if these claims are true, and if they are worth the $219 price tag.

PDF II, created by Prolinks Research & Development team, is a second generation Plasma Display Fan. The Blue Icy Crystal Display allows for real time temperature monitoring and fan speed controlling/monitoring. The Blue Icy Crystal Display can be viewed from three different angles; the angles include zero, 90°, and 180° view angles. In addition, an additional angle is capable if you mount the display in a 5.25” drive bay to monitor and control these temperatures. Therefore, wherever your location may be in comparison to the graphics card, you should be able to view the important information provided by the display. Most of us are disgusted by loud noises caused by fans, so to keep this graphics card silent; a new noise reduction technology is employed. This technology controls the fan speed, depending on the temperature of the core. The fan runs at 60% when the VPU temperature is below 40°C. When the VPU temperature is between 40° and 55° the fan will run at 80%, and if the temperature exceeds 55° you've got one hot computer and the fan will run at full speed.

Advanced pixel and vertex shader processing and true 128-but color precision on this graphics card, can all be thanks to the CineFX 2.0 engine. Intellisample HCT technology allows for high quality screen resolutions up to 1600 x 1280. In addition, Intellisample HCT can boost the cards compression efficiency by 50% for compressing color, texture, and z-data. As you may guess, UltraShadow Technology creates complex and life like shadows. nView Multi-display Technology is what enables you to use multiple monitors properly with the graphics card. The outputs on the graphics card include a TV-Out, VGA, and DVI out. With Unified Driver Architecture (UDA), you can upgrade your drivers and is backward compatible with your NVIDIA products without having to worry if the device will continue to function properly. Digital Vibrance Control allows for digital adjustments of lighting on your computer, so the video will continue to look great no matter what the lighting conditions are around you. The graphics card is optimized for applications that use either DirectX 9.0 or OpenGL 1.4. With 400MHz RAMDACs (Random Access Memory Digital-to-Analog Converter), you can prevent possible eyestrain, since these RAMDACs support high refresh rates.

The PixelView GeForce FX 5900XT Golden Limited is based on the NVIDIA 5900XT as you may guess. The 5900XT is based on the NV35 core, this core is also used on the 5900 and 5900 Ultra. With the 5900XT, a 256-bit memory bus is implemented making the total memory bandwidth, 22.4GB/s. Paired with the VPU on the graphics card is Hynix 4MX32X8-2.8ns memory.
