You may be thinking that a mouse pad is just a mouse pad right? Well this is far from the truth. I have used many mouse pads over time and there are huge differences between them. Some are good and some are bad. The Xtrac Pro HS is definitely one of the good mouse pads.

The Pro HS's base is made from sure grip rubber. The rubber bottom ensures that this surface will not slip on your desk during the rigours of hardcore gaming. I can attest that this is true even on a smooth and polished table.

The top of the mouse pad is made from hard plastic which is slightly textured. A honeycomb design covers the entire surface and within each of these separate honeycombs is a pattern of random black dots which ensure that optical mice are able to track it well.
Testing was done by playing of Desert Combat and image editing in Photoshop. The surface has very little friction which in my opinion is a good thing. The mouse literally glides across the mouse pad with the slightest touch. Through the use of Xtrac's Mad Dotz (http://www.xtracpads.com/maddotz.htm) the mouse literally took off and friction was reduced even more. Unfortunately there was some minor noise when moving the mouse across the Xtrac Pro HS.
The mouse used for testing; the Logitech MX500, did not skip a beat during the many hours of testing that it was put through. This was obviously due to the honeycomb/random dot design. I must commend Xtrac on making a mousepad that can help the MX500 mouse achieve maximum accuracy.

At a recommended retail price of US$12.95 the mouse pad is very competitively priced when compared to other mouse pads like the Icemat, which can be more than three times as expensive.
In conclusion, I must congratulate Xtrac on such an impressive mouse pad. This product should at the least be considered by everyone in the market for a high performance gaming surface.
