Xtreme Mega Mat

Since optical mice have hit the market, many have stopped using mouse pads all together; this is because optical mice are already very precise and accurate. However, the use of mouse pads can actually improve your mouse's tracking ability, because the different light levels and textures on the pads enable the mouse to distinguish movement more easily.

Features:

  • 14" tall x 17.5" wide x 3mm thick
  • Hard surface with lots of space
  • Sure-grip backing provides hold on most surfaces and will not slip
  • Works with optical mice as well as conventional ball mice

The Xtreme Mega Mat is not just any old mouse pad, this mat is mega. The mat measures a massive 14" tall x 17.5" wide x 3mm thick. This is fairly large for a mouse pad, but you can be sure your mouse won't slip off ever again. The surface of the Xtreme Mega Mat is coated in a hard type plastic, which reduces friction between the pad and the mouse, making it easier to control your mouse. Sure-grip backing enables the mouse pad to stay put on your desk whilst you use your mouse. The appearance of this mousepad is similar to the Xtreme Gaming Mat, apart from the size of course. The appearance is modern and sophisticated with contrasting black and white stripes leading towards the center creating a tunnel-type illusion. An outline of an X can be found in the center and the name Xtreme is located in the bottom right hand corner.

The Xtreme Mega Mat was tested using a Microsoft Intellimouse 3.0A and an older Logitech optical mouse. The mouse pad was used whilst navigating through Windows, Macromedia Dreamweaver MX, Adobe Photoshop, and gaming. During all of the tests, this mouse pad performed admirably over my old and small Belkin WaveRest Gel Mouse Pad. I had no problems with the mouse pad either sticking or affecting tracking. No problems were found.

This mousepad is huge, stylish, and allows smooth mouse operation, what more could you ask for from a mouse pad? From what we have seen in this review, and with the mouse pad only costing around $15, we highly recommend the Xtreme Mega Mat. The only problem we could find was locating a position on the desk to fit such a large mouse pad.
